In August 2012, One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning and Controlled Rain, LLC joined forces to help a young man, Cisco Perez Lee, and his family during his battle with Melanoma. In less than 7 hours and on the hottest day of the year, we were able to raise over $3,000 for Cisco and his family. Sorry to say, Cisco was not able to attend the event because he wasn’t feeling well. As the month progressed, Cisco got worse and unfortunately passed away on September 27th. Amelia, his mom, wanted us to thank everyone for helping with the charity event and let you all know that the donations were very much appreciated. If you didn’t catch his story, here’s a brief summary:
Francisco (Cisco) had a mole removed 2 years ago for cosmetic reasons and the clinic found it to be cancerous. However, the clinic FAILED to tell Cisco’s family. This year, Cisco was very sick and finally in April his mom took him to the ER. That’s when they found out he had cancer. Five days later he was in brain surgery and the cancer had spread throughout his entire body. They have recently found 2 more tumors. Being a single parent and low income family, they need our help.
Because the family wasn’t told 2 years prior that Cisco had Cancer, when they found out it was too late, and sadly it took his life. He is remembered by his counselor as a young man with a lot of life; someone she really enjoyed getting to know. He was very near and dear to her heart. This has been a grueling journey for the family and the faculty and students at Chief Leschi School. We will continue to keep them in our prayers, and ask that you do the same.
Thank you for all the donations, we couldn’t do it without you!!

Please continue to pray for a cure for this type of cancer that Emmie-Pie has. Neuroblastoma is a malignant (cancerous) tumor that develops from nerve tissue.
Apparently, there is still no cure for this cancer and the life span is about 4-10 years unless they come up with a cure. Right now, the doctors are trying to slow down Emmie’s cancer until they find something that will be a cure.
On Feb. 1st, Emmie-Pie and Darla (mom) returned back to Washington State to continue treatment here. Darla’s insurance refused to pay for the chemo treatments in NY noting she can get those in Washington. They will go back to NY when the 2nd phase of the humanize antibody comes out.
While in NY, Emmie-Pie had 2 MIBG Therapies. They took some antibody and mixed it with radioactive and injected it right into Emmie’s body. This therapy finds the cancer cells and tries to kill it. The hospital had to put a shield around the room so Darla wouldn’t get a lot of radiation.
The family also found out while in NY that Emmie-Pie was never in remission. She always had Neuroblastoma in her legs and the doctors didn’t do a MIBG scan to show the cancer in her bones of her legs. However, the MRI shows her head and brain are normal and have no cancer. Praise God.
Currently, Emmie-Pie is at the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and will be there for about 4-5 weeks then radiation again on her left thigh which has gotten worse. You can see some other spots all over both legs but after she is done with radiation the doctors will come up with a plan to maintain her cancer until the 2nd phase of the H3F8 comes out. At that time, Emmie-Pie and her mom will fly back to NY for this rare treatment (testing phase).
Here is some history starting on Jan. 21st to now to bring everyone current.
On Jan. 21, Darla wrote: Emmie-Pie’s counts came up all by themselves and she doesn’t need her stem cells. The doctor said this is uncommon for this kind of treatment that she got twice. So Emmie-Pie gets scans on Jan. 24 and 25 to see what kind of treatment they will be doing next.
On Jan. 25, Darla wrote: Well we got the scans today and she is better. You can see some spots but very faint. However, she has one spot on her thigh that got worse so now she has to start very high dose chemo for 5 days on Monday, Jan 30th and then on Monday, Feb. 6th we get stem cells back and we wait for scans to see what we are going to do next. Find more out tomorrow and I will let ya know more.
On Feb. 6, Darla wrote: Emmie-Pie got some platelets today and she is getting MRI of her head and thigh on the 8th and then right in to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital for blood then high dose chemo.
On Feb. 8, Darla wrote: Emmie-Pie and I just checked in to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and she is getting blood right now and she will start high dose chemo tonight for 5 days, tomorrow we will get the results of the MRI of the head and brain and will let you know when we find out something.
On Feb. 10, Darla wrote: Emmie-Pie’s MRI of her head was clear of disease. THANK GOD and thanks for everyone’s prayers. We have finished chemo and getting stem cells Wednesday, 15th.
On Feb. 16, Darla wrote: wbc is 0 and she’s going to be getting platelets today and blood tomorrow so we are going to be here (Mary Bridge) a few weeks but no fever and mouth soars so far.
Thanks for all the support!! Love you guys.
Please share this with your friends and family. Little Emmie-Pie certainly needs our prayers and support.

In 2011 we were involved in many home shows throughout Lewis, Thurston, and Pierce counties. This is an awesome opportunity for homeowners to get good ideas and meet their potential contractors for their home improvement projects. Home shows are a great way for us to educate the different communities on what kind of services we do provide. We started the year in Puyallup and ended in Olympia.
Next year, we are planning on doing most of the same shows. If you are at a home show, be sure to look for us. You never know what we are giving away and what our home show specials are. Our first 2012 Home Show will be the Puyallup Home and Garden Show at the Puyallup Fair Grounds on January 6-8.
One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning teamed up with Controlled Rain, LLC and participated in the Hawks Prairie Block Party held in the Home Depot, Costco, Best Buy, etc. parking lots this summer.
We had a lot of fun educating the community on what both of our companies do.
One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning services all types of heating and cooling equipment, makes repairs, and installs new systems. They provide service in Thurston, Pierce, Mason, and Lewis Counties and their surrounding areas.
Controlled Rain, LLC has been providing irrigation and landscape services for over 18 years in the Puget Sound Area.
Both of these companies take homeowner safety seriously by doing background checks and doing random drug testing on their employees.
We especially had fun playing with the kids. We had the bean bag toss that not only kids enjoyed, but adults as well. It was a warm, beautiful day and everyone was so friendly. It was a joy to participate. Here are some photos to see how much fun we had:
One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning teamed up with Controlled Rain, LLC to educate the community on what their businesses do. They both offered great specials and had fun playing a bean bag toss with all the children that passed their booth. All the children received either a frisbee, coloring book, fake tatoos, or candy; and all had smiles from ear to ear.
They had a lot of happy children at their booth which means they had happy parents. Together, both companies had a drawing for an iPad and One Hour had an “Oldest Furnace Contest”.
The weather wasn’t the best, but we still had fun. It rained so much, we thought the booth was going to float away.
We enjoyed connecting with our community and met a lot of nice people. Here are some photos of this event.
